Every saga has its opening line, and coffee's was written in Ethiopia. From the Sidama Zone, where the story of the bean began, smallholder farmers still grow the indigenous heirloom cultivars their ancestors knew, the ur-coffee, the root of the tale.
Sun-dried whole on raised beds and sorted by hand, this natural-process lot pours med-light and generous: milk chocolate and caramel wrapped around bright fruit. Drink it the way skalds tell an origin story: slowly, and with respect.
